  1. Vintage bags and suitcases

    October 6, 2014 by sigrid

I must confess I am a “gatherer”, and that just not only apply when it comes to yarn. I also gather old things. Not just any old object of course. I truly love everything vintage that has to do with knitting, yarn and sewing. But I also have a weak spot when it comes to bags and suitcases, and tin cans, boxes… and things you can store other things in. Like this old sewing basket that used to belong to my great grandmother.

I suddenly remembered I have not blogged about the riding jersey I finished during the summer. This is the first project in a long time that I knitted using continental style. Almost every time I picked up the unfinished project I had to remind myself to knit continental and not lever style.

  3. Knitting and gardening

    June 6, 2014 by sigrid

A Norwegian summer often equals a rainy summer. But to day we have the first rainy day in weeks. Since the weather have been so bright and sunny, I have prioritised gardening before knitting lately. This time of year is so amazing, with flowers and green leafs everywhere. So of course I try to spend a lot of time outdoors, sometimes bringing my knitting. But mostly it is too hot knitting with wool out in the sun.

But I have done some knitting. I started the “Riding jersey” by Lise-Lotte Lystrup. The pattern can be found in the book “Vintage Knitwear for Modern Knitters”.

  4. 50`s jumper

Two of my favorite knitting books is the “A stitch in time” books by Susan Crawford and Jane Weller. And I just finished a second sweater from volume 1. I have to admit I knitted the same sweater twice. But who can blame me! The sweater is gorgeous:

The first one I made a couple of years ago. One of my younger sisters have always loved it, so it was about time she got her own. And last night it was finished. Just in time for my parent to bring it when they go visit her this weekend. It turned out a bit smaller than the first one I made, unfortunately, even though I made the same size as last time. But looking back,  the yarn I used on the first one was a bit thicker. Thats probably the cause of the size difference. I’m crossing my fingers, hoping it fits. It look OK on me I think :
